Feign

Where is the smile you're waiting for,
It's disappeared, it is no more,
Hidden in small pieces of yore,
Forgotten like volumes of lore.
I won't ever see the light of day,
It died of misery in things I can't say,
My horrible little price I must pay,
For a silence of a startling gray.
Feel like a trapped, caged bird,
What can one do, being this misunderstood,
Let's all agree it's just so absurd,
Must put a stop to use of my own word,
So what is said is understood and heard.
Fleeting feelings ran once so deep,
A beating heart now hard to keep,
Wanting comfort in a night's sleep,
Wanting to smile again, forget how to weep.
Filled head of tears and rain,
Emotions are finally, brutally slain,
Got to find a way, rack my brain,
For you, I guess, a smile I can feign.
