Tonight

A broken winged bird, can't even fly
What else can this bird do
Besides give up an die.
It once was a bluebird
Blue, feathery, and free.
It once was a sparrow
Singing of love in a tree.
It was once an eagle
Proud as could be.
It once went a flying
Without a care in the world
'Til it found it was dying
Of hope lost in a whirl.
No song found it crying
Deep down inside
(Unable to shed mortal tears)
A broken winged bird
So full of fears
It's scared, it's in agony
And nobody hears.
This bird will lay down
And give up its flight
And it will find relief
When death comes tonight.
